LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, 8 APRIL 2025 – BenQ, a global leader in display solutions for education, has announced its next generation of digital signage, the Pantone Validated High Brightness SH04 series, and the Pantone Validated SL04 series. Both series are Google-certified, and Pantone® and Pantone® SkinTone™ Validated, a world’s first.
The SH04 and SL04 series are ideal for school common areas and classrooms, with the high-brightness SH04 displays being especially suited for campus signage applications. Both series are fully certified by Google and run Android 13, giving school administrators and teachers access to thousands of apps via the Play Store and Google’s core services.
Additionally, the SH04 and SL04 series can be easily mounted in portrait or landscape orientation and are designed for 24/7 operation, with a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours.
“We’re thrilled to introduce our next-generation Pantone® Validated and Pantone® SkinTone™ Validated digital signage, the SH04 and SL04 series,” says Claire Huang, Director of BenQ’s Cloud Innovation Centre and Display Solutions Department. “These innovative displays are built to elevate campus environments, delivering vibrant colour accuracy, powerful performance, and enhanced security, setting a new standard for engaging, effective signage and learning experiences.”
Colour modes for every scenario
The SH04 and SL04 series displays support expansive colour gamuts:
SH04: 95% DCI-P3, 99% sRGB, 85% NTSC
SL04: 99% sRGB, 72% NTSC
In addition, both series offer 10-bit colour depth and support a variety of colour modes:
Pantone mode accurately displays Pantone® colours, including Pantone SkinTone™ Guide colours, a collection of 110 diverse skin tones. This allows students to learn with the industry standard in colour for courses ranging from art and design to photography and even medical applications such as prosthetics.
M-book mode is designed to perfectly mimic the colours displayed on MacBooks for a seamless viewing experience between MacBooks and the display.
High-detail mode sharpens on-screen text, making it easier to see fine details when viewing blueprints, schematics, floorplans, and more.
Sketch mode is a grayscale mode that makes looking at sketches and drawings easier on the eyes by highlighting contrast, adding warmth, and lowering the display’s brightness to simulate the feel of looking at paper.
Cinema mode* lets you play video projects, films, and signage videos with stunning clarity and depth. Unlock HDR10 by connecting an HDMI cable for brighter highlights, deeper blacks, and richly detailed shadows, creating a truly immersive visual experience.
*Available in Q2 2025.
Get your message across
School administrators and IT staff can leverage BenQ X-Sign to remotely create, manage, and display custom digital signage across any BenQ display on campus. This versatile tool can be used for everything from cafeteria menus and event schedules to sports scores.
In addition, admins can use X-Sign to instantly deliver real-time and scheduled announcements, including emergency alerts with sound, to every BenQ display throughout the school, ensuring timely communication with students, teachers, and guests.
Teaching made effortless
Both the SH04 and SL04 series displays make it easy for teachers and students to share content in multiple intuitive ways. To take full advantage of the Google ecosystem on the display, they can connect a keyboard and mouse. They can also easily connect a laptop and a set-top box for enhanced learning.
Additionally, the BenQ InstaShare 2 screen-sharing app allows for seamless wireless content sharing with the SH04 and SL04. Compatible with Windows, Android, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and ChromeOS, InstaShare 2 lets users cast content wirelessly while offering a built-in smart controller for smooth presentations.
Teachers can easily log into their BenQ accounts on SH04 and SL04 displays with a simple QR code scan. Once logged in, they can enjoy secure access to their connected cloud drives, apps, and bookmarks, as well as files saved on the display. User data remains private, ensuring that only they can view and manage their information.
For even more teaching resources, educators can access the Google Play Store and install apps, or have IT staff install apps for them. This way, teachers can continue using the tools they know without missing a beat in class.
Smart device and user management
IT admins can remotely manage and update all SH04 and SL04 series displays in their school with BenQ’s Device Management Solution (DMS). They can log in to a single online console and monitor device analytics, manage apps, push device updates, and configure the power settings of both individual or groups of SH04 and SL04 displays.
With BenQ Identity and Access Management (IAM), IT staff can easily import users directly from ClassLink, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, an LDAP server, or other SAML-based identity providers and update databases with a simple click.
Signage powered by Google
SH04 and SL04 displays are fully Google-certified under the Enterprise Devices Licensing Agreement (EDLA), ensuring they meet Google's standards and come equipped with built-in Google Mobile Services (GMS). This includes essential apps such as Google Search, Google Drive, Chrome, YouTube, and access to the vast library of apps on the Google Play Store.
Google Play also enhances device security through its Play Protect service. This feature actively scans apps for suspicious behaviour, prevents users from downloading potentially harmful apps, and removes previously installed apps that demonstrate malicious activity, keeping your SH04 and SL04 devices secure.
Built-in sustainability
The SH04 and SL04 display series are ENERGY STAR® 8.0 certified for a reduced carbon footprint. In addition, the packaging size has been halved compared to previous digital signage models. This allows for improved transportation efficiency of the displays by 60% to help cut emissions.
To further reduce emissions, IT admins can use DMS to remotely set sleep modes, power on-off scheduling, and view real-time energy usage statistics of their SH04 and SL04 displays to pinpoint areas where power usage can be optimised.
