  • Why is BenQ X500i Gaming Projector’s 4K resolution a True 4K?
  • True 4K UHD must deliver 8.3 million pixels on the screen. Please read on to learn more about this topic.

According to criteria set by the CTA (Consumers Technology Association), 4K UHD must deliver 8.3 million pixels on the screen in order to be considered True 4K resolution. By harnessing the most advanced DLP 0.47” DMD (Digital Micromirror Device), our projectors utilize millions of micromirrors with quick adjustment speeds, as well as the advanced image processing capabilities of the DLP 4K UHD chipset to achieve CTA’s 4K UHD specifications (8.3 million distinct pixels for each frame), resulting in four times the resolution of Full HD 1080p.

  • What is DLP 4K UHD Technology?
  • DLP 4K UHD Technology is Texas Instruments’ pixel-shifting technology. Please read on to learn more about this topic.

DLP 4K UHD Technology is used by projectors to achieve True 4K's 8.3 million pixels regardless of the number of native pixels their DMD chip has. It not only can help double the 2716 x 1528 pixels of a 0.66” DMD, but can also quadruple the 1920 x 1080 pixels of a 0.47” DMD to create the 8.3 million pixels of True 4K at a lightning fast pixel-shifting speed.

  • What type of 4K HDR signal is compatible with the projector?
  • The compatible resolutions is 3840 x 2016 in pixels at 24/25/30/50/60 (Hz). Please read on to learn more about this topic.

To automatically detect HDR content, please make sure your 4K player is sending a compatible 4K HDR signal to the projector.

    1. Compatible resolutions: 4K x 2K (3840 x 2016 in pixels) at 24/25/30/50/60 (Hz).

    2. Compatible HDR signals:

    • 4K/60p (60 Hz) 4:4:4 supports up to 8bits

    • 4K/60p (60 Hz) 4:2:2 supports up to 12bits

    • 4K/60p (60 Hz) 4:2:0 supports up to 12bits

    • 4K/24p (24 Hz) 4:4:4 supports up to 12bits

    • 4K/24p (24 Hz) 4:2:2 supports up to 12bits

    • 4K/24p (24 Hz) 4:2:0 supports up to 12bits

  • Why does X500i with the 4K DLP Technology produce a slight high frequency noise?
  • In order to create smooth 4K resolution images, True 4K DLP Technology utilizes high speed pixel displacement and the superimposition of pixels to produce the 8.3 million pixels seen by the viewer. An end result of this process is a degree of vibration that may results in a slight or unnoticeable high-frequency noise.

  • Do I need to replace the LED lamp of the X500i projector?
  • There is no need to replace it during the normal usage lifetime of the projector. Because the projector uses an LED light source instead of a lamp, it can last for about 20,000~30,000 hours so there is no need to change it during the normal usage lifetime of the projector. If you want to change the lamp, please notice that LED replacement is not user-serviceable, please contact the service center to replace it.
