Golfus Makes Indoor Golf Feel Real with BenQ Golf Simulators
Overview
The Challenge

The existing projection systems at Golfus, a golf retail store with showrooms, weren't keeping up with expectations. Image sharpness, brightness, and colour realism all fell short of what a convincing golf simulation needs, and as customer expectations rose, the gap became harder to ignore. On top of that, the replacement had to adapt to their two different showrooms without losing image quality or alignment.

The Solution

After conversations with a BenQ sales representative, the choice fell on the 4K BR9708 simulation projector for its wide colour gamut with factory-calibrated reproduction accuracy, and the interchangeable lenses that let each installation be tailored to its own space.

The Result

The simulators now reproduce golf courses with a level of visual realism the previous systems couldn't reach. Golfus can now offer a more premium experience to their customers, one that also raises the perceived value of the simulator setups.

Project

Golfus needed to upgrade the projection systems in their golf simulator showrooms for more realistic indoor golf experiences.

About Golfus

Golfus, part of Golf House S.p.A., operates golf retail and simulator showrooms in Italy. Their simulators are a sales tool for their showroom floor and a training and entertainment space. This dual purpose is why projection quality is not a nice-to-have but something the whole experience depends on.

Setting realism as the Baseline

On whether to switch to TVs or LED panels or upgrade the in-use projectors, the format decided itself the moment they thought about scale. What was left to figure out was which projector could hold that scale together with the realism a golfer notices before anyone has to point it out.

The projection team from BenQ not only recommended the projector model, but also instructed on the way the three projectors had to be installed in the two showrooms. The selected model was the 2600-lumen 4K BR9708 simulation projector, as only a 4K projector could unlock the full potential for high-end indoor golf setup.

The BR9708 stood out for the features needed in the project that could significantly improve the visual experience. It offers a custom high-performance scaler IC and an all-new RGBRGB colour wheel that delivers a wide 100% DCI-P3 gamut with factory-calibrated accuracy. Moreover, it features a superior ΔE < 2 colour reproduction which makes the difference between two colours indistinguishable to the eye, 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 30dB low noise, and 20,000-hour laser light source for long-lasting performance.

Furthermore, the interchangeable lenses meant that each of the installations with their own space constraints, could be set up without the compromises Golfus had been living with under their previous system, as they could support short-throw projection up to 300” in tight spaces.

Reliable Projection Services with BenQ

The process was straightforward and without obstacles, resulting in two meticulously crafted showrooms in Milan and Rome. From 3D planning of the installation areas to expert consultations throughout the project, BenQ provided professional Projection Services every step of the way. With its aftersales support, BenQ made sure that the golf simulators worked reliably every day in front of customers who would be evaluating the product as much as the game.

“Customers immediately notice the difference: the image is sharper, more immersive, and the overall experience feels far more premium.”
Andrea Figini – Indoor System Manager at Golfus
Outcome

During this project, Golfus got more immersive simulators that elevated the experience for their professional players and casual customers. Happy about this collaboration and of course the solution, Golfus has since started specifying BenQ projectors for their own customers in search of a private indoor golf retreat, which says as much about the partnership as any testimonial would.
