Intelligent tools improve safety and concentration of employees

EINDHOVEN, the Netherlands – November 9, 2020 –Even when scientists will find a vaccine that works against the coronavirus, “going back to work” will never mean the same again. Many organizations are struggling with the question of safety in meeting rooms or open offices as aerosols spread quickly throughout closed spaces. The WHO states that especially rooms with poor ventilation run a high risk. Maintaining a good air quality and reducing the transmission of germs is key to provide a safe working environment.

Research: 11% increase of productivity due to fresh air

Apart from the risks of working in a poorly ventilated room, a good working environment helps employees to concentrate. Research of the World Green Building Council recorded an 11% increase in productivity as a result of increased fresh air to the workstation and a reduction in pollutants.

The widgets on BenQ’s Interactive Flat Panels make it easier for organizations to monitor the air quality in their building. The built-in sensor can collect air quality data and allows external monitors to access it. In this way, it is not only easier for management to keep an eye on air quality in all meeting rooms with flat panels, it is also easier to instruct employees to open a door or window or take a break when the data is alarming.

“Helping to keep employees communicating in a healthy environment”

Even in the post COVID-19 world, digital communication tools can play an important role to ensure safe and effective communication between employees. “Our smart Interactive Flat Panel comes equipped with features helping to keep employees communicating in a healthy environment”, says Steve Chu, President of BenQ Europe. BenQ is a world-leading human technology and solutions provider aiming to elevate and enrich every aspect of consumers’ lives.

Chu: “Especially in these challenging times it is essential to have information about the air quality in meeting rooms at hand. The supply of fresh air helps reduce the aerosol spread in the room and at the same time ensures that the ability of employees to concentrate is maintained.”

The Air-Quality Sensor for example measures not only room temperature and humidity*, but also the CO2 concentration and PM2.5* and PM10 atmospheric aerosol particles that can be harmful to employees. The CO2 sensor is designed according to WHO and EU standards.  A handy widget on the screen is helping employees to keep an eye on the measured values in the room so they can open a door or window immediately when necessary. Safe working environment and effective communications

BenQ’s Interactive Flat Panels have other features related to safety. The germ-resistant surface of the displays with a coating of silver ions ensures a significantly lower germ load and thus minimizes the risk of infection when sharing the touch display. BenQ eye-care solution provides several technologies to protect employees from eye-related illnesses and offers a clear and comfortable view at the same time. Blue light is filtered out, effectively diminishing eye fatigue irritation and bringing viewing comfort. Additionally, exclusive Flicker-free technology eliminates the main cause for monitor flicker, which could cause eye strain and vision impairment.

The included voice assistant allows hands-free control so employees can keep social distance in the meeting room. Thanks to the cross-platform solution EZWrite, employees can easily save files to their personal cloud storage and then access them in a meeting room.

The panel also features X-Sign Broadcast, a wireless broadcast system that can push alerts, messages and announcements. Unlike traditional messaging systems, X-Sign Broadcast ensures immediate message delivery as well as group notification. This makes it much easier for companies to quickly send messages to meeting rooms if the situation requires action.

Latest video conferencing apps

The Interactive Flat Panels now come with the latest video conferencing apps. Zoom and BenQ have partnered up to make video conferencing even better. Zoom Rooms and other top-tier conferencing apps like Cisco Webex and Microsoft Teams are fully compatible with the Interactive Flat Panel through its OPS slot. The CP01 series and RP02 series also come pre-installed with Blizz by TeamViewer. Matched with the built-in camera and mic array, these apps allow users to start meetings instantly.

While “going back to work” in or after the COVID-19 period might never be same anymore, it is a comforting thought to know that digital communication tools can play an important role to ensure safe and effective communication between employees.
