EINDHOVEN, THE NETHERLANDS, 12 JUNE 2026 – BenQ, an internationally renowned innovator of digital lifestyle devices, is proud to announce that its 4K Laser Short-Throw Golf Simulator Projector, the AK700ST, has won the COMPUTEX Best Choice Award (Category Award). As a first-of-its-kind golf simulator projector featuring Auto Screen Fit technology, the AK700ST also includes an intuitive online 3D planning tool designed for pre-installation golf simulation setups. With these innovations, the product stood out among numerous entries, recognised for its innovation, functionality, and market potential.
According to a 2025 report by Grand View Research, the global golf simulator market continues to expand rapidly and is projected to reach USD 2.3 billion by 2026, with North America accounting for nearly half of the market. BenQ is targeting this growth opportunity with the AK700ST. Designed for DIY indoor golf enthusiasts and versatile home entertainment use, the projector allows users to transform garages, basements, and other home spaces into dedicated golf simulation setups with ease. With the AK700ST, golfers can truly “Play Like You’re There,” while the space can also be transformed into a versatile Sim-Theater for movies, live sports, and gaming.
“At BenQ, we continually reimagine the role that display hardware and software can play in everyday life through real-world user scenarios,” said Claire Huang, Head of Large Display Business Unit at BenQ. “Beyond delivering exceptional image quality, we focus on how technology can seamlessly integrate into users’ daily habits and lifestyles. With the AK700ST short-throw laser projector, we aim to reduce the installation complexity and accessibility barriers often associated with professional simulation setups, enabling more users to enjoy high-quality, immersive sports and entertainment experiences within their homes.”
The AK700ST integrates multiple key technologies to redefine the indoor golf simulation experience. Its Auto Screen Fit technology utilises a built-in camera to intelligently detect screen dimensions and automatically align the projection within 10 seconds, minimising distortion and removing the need for complex setup.
Golf Mode delivers 95% Rec.709 colour accuracy, with specialised tuning for greens, skies, and water to recreate lifelike golf course visuals. In addition, the projector features a 4,000-lumen laser light source and an IP5X-rated sealed optical engine, ensuring stable performance even in dusty environments such as garages and basements, along with up to 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation.
For installation and application flexibility, the AK700ST features a 0.69–0.83 short-throw ratio, allowing it to be positioned safely behind the golfer to eliminate shadow interference during swings. It supports major golf simulation software and multiple screen aspect ratios, ensuring broad compatibility. BenQ also provides a comprehensive Golf Sim ecosystem, including 3D space planning, projector selection tools, and installation assistance, significantly lowering the barrier to entry.
Addressing long-standing challenges in the indoor golf simulation market — including complex installation, limited visual realism, and high maintenance requirements — the AK700ST streamlines the setup and enhances usability through automation, professional colour tuning, and a long-lasting laser light source, making high-quality simulation more accessible to a broader range of users.
Demonstrating its commitment to sustainable innovation the AK700ST is developed with a full product lifecycle carbon reduction approach. It incorporates a high-efficiency hybrid laser and LED light source module to reduce power consumption, while the enclosure is made with 50% recycled materials. The use of paper-based packing further minimises environmental impact. BenQ also offers recycling and disassembly guidelines, working with industry partners to promote circular resource use and reinforce its commitment to sustainability.
The COMPUTEX Best Choice Award is the official award of COMPUTEX, judged by experts from industry, government, and academia based on criteria such as functionality, innovation, and market potential.
