  • Why is BenQ Home Projector’s 4K a True 4K?
  • What is DLP 4K UHD Technology?
  • What makes BenQ Home Projector's True 4K outperform 3LCD 4K-Enhancement?
  • Native 4K vs DLP 4K UHD Technology
  • Does W2700/TK850 throw a lighting frame around the actual image like the W1700/TK800?
  • Among the New BenQ 4K Home Projector Family launched in 2019, which one is for me?
  • Can I use TK850 to play game?
  • Which connectivity of TK850 supports HDR10/HLG?
  • What type of 4K HDR singal is compatible with TK850?
  • What type of HDMI cable version is compatible with 4K HDR?
  • Does the V5000i project images larger than 100”?
  • V5000i guarantees a clear image in the size range of 70" to 100". When projecting images larger than 100", there may be slight blurring at the corners.
  • Why does the V5000i need to be paired with a specified projection screen? Why can't I use a separate screen which I purchase and assemble on my own? Is using another screen not as effective?
  • The SNS21 is a screen designated for use by BenQ, that is suitable for use in brightly-lit rooms. Due to the wide array of projection screens on the market, BenQ cannot guarantee the effectiveness of screens other than the SN21, which has been specially designed by BenQ's lab to work with the V5000i. As such, we can guarantee that in a brightly-lit room, the visuals and colors produced by the V5000i coupled with an SN21 screen are as detailed and true-to-life as can be.
  • Can a TV projector be used with the lights on?
  • Yes, we strongly recommend that you use an Ambient Light Rejecting (ALR) screen to ensure the best visual quality is attained, especially in well-lit environments. A light resistant screen can increase the contrast, clarity, and overall visual quality of your TV projector, although darker environments still allow for better visual quality.
  • Does the V5000i support the full functions of HDMI version 2.1?
  • No, the V5000i HDMI port only supports the 4K@120Hz input / 1080p@120Hz output and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM).
  • What is Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM)?
  • Auto Low Latency Mode is designed to minimize input lag and provide gamers with a smoother and more responsive gaming experience. By automatically detecting when a game is being played, ALLM optimizes the display's settings to reduce input lag and improve the gaming experience.
  • Does the projector support HDMI Audio Return Channel (eARC)? How do you enable this function?
  • Yes, the TV projector supports eARC on its HDMI-2 port (marked as Audio Return+). Please follow the instructions below to enable the eARC function on the projector from the OSD menu.

    Audio > Audio Output > Audio Return+ > OK

    1. Manually enable Electronic Control by configuring the SYSTEM SETUP: ADVANCED > HDMI Settings > Electronic Control setting to ON.

    2. Enable ARC by configuring the SYSTEM SETUP: BASIC >  Sound > Audio Return (HDMI-2) setting to ON.

  • Can I turn on the Local Contrast Enhancer or MEMC while watching HDR10+ content?
  • When watching HDR10+ content, you cannot enable Local Contrast Enhancer (LCE) at the same time. This is because HDR10+ does not allow additional contrast enhancement functions to be enabled, as they may conflict with other contrast-enhancing algorithms. However, it is okay to enable Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation (MEMC) at the same time.
  • How to watch HDR10+ content?
  • If your player and video both support HDR10+, your projector will automatically activate when it receives an HDR10+ format through HDMI. However, if one of the player, video, or projector does not support HDR10+ format, the content will only be played in the standard HDR10 format.
  • What if the views are swapped when I use 3D glasses with the projector?
  • Go to the DISPLAY: 3D > 3D Sync Invert setting in the OSD settings menu to switch 3D Sync Invert to ON and the view should return to normal.
  • Why is BenQ Home Projector’s 4K resolution a True 4K?
  • True 4K UHD must deliver 8.3 million pixels on the screen. Please read on to learn more about this topic. According to criteria set by the CTA (Consumers Technology Association), 4K UHD must deliver 8.3 million pixels on the screen in order to be considered True 4K resolution. By harnessing the most advanced DLP 0.47” DMD (Digital Micromirror Device), our projectors utilize millions of micromirrors with quick adjustment speeds, as well as the advanced image processing capabilities of the DLP 4K UHD chipset to achieve CTA’s 4K UHD specifications (8.3 million distinct pixels for each frame), resulting in four times the resolution of Full HD 1080p.
  • What makes BenQ Home Projector's True 4K outperform a 3LCD projector's 4K-Enhancement?
  • BenQ delivers 8.3 million distinct pixels. Please read on to learn more about this topic. BenQ delivers True 4K UHD with 8.3 million distinct pixels, as opposed to the 4K Enhancement our competitors' 3LCD projectors use which only produces around 4.1 million pixels. This difference makes the picture quality of our projectors more appealing to movie enthusiasts and those seeking a big-screen cinematic experience.
  • Can I watch 4K content on the projector without connecting to an HDMI source?
  • Yes, you can watch 4K content via the YouTube app.
  • If I enable the keystone function in the projector, will the input lag be impacted?
  • Yes, since image processing is required for the keystone function, input lag will be slightly longer* but not affecting the smoothness in games when the keystone is enabled. *Latency will hardly be noticeable with keystone function enabled, as lag time merely increase no more than 1 frame (4ms~16ms).
  • What type of 4K HDR signal is compatible with the projector?

  • Should I turn on 4K motion enhancer or not?
  • Well-known Hollywood director Chris McQuarrie and  actor Tom Cruise have urged movie fans to disable motion-smoothing on their TVs, which causes the “soap opera effect,” making movies look like they were shot on high-speed video rather than film. To preserve the original filmmakers’ vision, our projector keeps 4K Motion Enhancer off by default to maintain the original 24fps frame rate that's recommended for movie. Catering to individual preferences, the projector still offers 4K Motion Enhancer to reduce motion blur in live sports events and fast-paced action in other HD programs.

Unlike traditional 1080p projectors’ whose 3:2 pull down duplicates frames, resulting in “judder” issues due to the mismatch between the refresh rate and 24fps frame rate, our projector’s 4K Motion Enhancer adds interpolated frames to eliminate judder for videos with smoother motion.
