BenQ is committed to establishing a long-term collaboration model with suppliers, and will grow together with them to establish a complete set of targets and plans according to schedule. This will be carried out gradually according to the plan for each stage, enabling us to improve our sustainable supply chain.
Suppliers with CSR documents approaching expiration are required to sign the Supplier Social Responsibility and Business Ethics Agreement. In 2023, 30% of our first-tier suppliers completed this agreement, and we expect all first-tier suppliers to sign by 2024.
We plan to include social responsibility criteria in on-site supplier audits. During these audits, we will review local procurement practices, request details on expenditures for production equipment, and verify the percentage of locally sourced materials. Additionally, we will discuss ESG goals with first-tier suppliers and collaborate with them to achieve shared sustainability objectives with BenQ.
Our goal is to complete on-site audits for all partner suppliers. Key suppliers will be required to undergo code of conduct audits conducted by a third-party organisation certified by the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA).
1.
Explanation for non-achievement: Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in 2023 increased by 25.21% compared to 2020. This was due to the impact of the pandemic from 2020 to 2022, during which there were 3 to 4 months of work-from-home (WFH) each year, and a full return to office work in 2023, resulting in the increase of total electricity usage and in turn impacting the amount of carbon emissions.
